A New Kind of Therapy

Mind-Body-Spirit Work

As our world changes, and more and more people are aware of the mind-body-spirit link, many mental health professionals are training in energy psychology techniques. Psycho-therapists all over the world are utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), or Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET), or Seemorg Matrix, or Healing from the Body Level Up (HBLU), or Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), or Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT), or Thought Field Therapy (TFT), or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), or Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine Work or various spiritual and metaphysical techniques.

What Linda brings to her work is a powerful mix of all of these, fine-tuned to the needs and personalities of her clients. She is among the first in her field to acquire this repertoire of therapeutic skills, and at this point in her career is able to easily and strategically flow from one technique or perspective to another as the needs of the session dictate. With a high value on expanding and honing her skills, she continues to add to her tool box through professional trainings and research. Over time she has fine-tuned numerous strategies for stream-lining and individualizing her work, making her even more effective in helping clients reach their goals.

Each of the modalities in which she has been trained has its own particular strength

For example, Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET) is precise in quickly getting to the roots of a problem. Within a few minutes, using assessment techniques from traditional Chinese Medicine and Applied Kinesiology, Linda can determine what may be keeping a person stuck in unpleasant emotions, trapped by maladaptive beliefs or unable to achieve a desired outcome in life.

When the therapeutic work reaches an impasse or has difficulty getting started, the Energy Medicine techniques from Donna Eden are invaluable in identifying the problem in the client’s energy system and addressing it. Linda teaches a Daily Energy Routine (rooted in Eden’s work) for ongoing maintenance of mind-body balance and health.

Chakra or energy-center work, honed from a variety of sources, enables Linda and her clients to see the issue from a bigger spiritual or life perspective. This makes possible the expansion of the scope of the healing to impact the individual’s level of spiritual consciousness. It also provides the “portals” through which to access higher level spiritual resources which are invaluable in deepening the healing work.

When deep-seated and long-lasting patterns surface, Healing From the Body Level Up (HBLU) and Seemorg Matrix bring precise understandings and tools to the process. HBLU is helpful in identifying and treating underlying relationship dynamics as well as the role that external energy plays in creating individual distress. Seemorg Matrix excels in identifying and shifting stuck beliefs, as well as the life experience that contributes to their creation and maintenance.

Throughout the process, “tapping down” stress through Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is incredibly helpful. Linda’s clients learn this simple and effective acupressure technique (and many others) to manage their own stress responses during daily life. Learning to be vitally alive in the moment, rather than caught up in fight-or-flight-or-freeze, is one of the most important keys to a rich and meaningful life. The stress management techniques of Energy Psychology and Energy Medicine are easily acquired and become part of Linda’s clients’ daily habits. (In our complex modern world, these skills are as important as learning to read and write. Will someday we teach them to everyone?)

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) teaches that all healing happens when a resource state is brought to a problem state. Throughout the therapeutic process, Linda is actively helping clients identify their resources and internal sources of strength.

Experiencing these simultaneously with the problematic emotions or thoughts becomes the doorway to transformation. As Einstein stated, a problem cannot be solved at the level of complexity at which the problem was created. NLP is powerful at shifting the way an issue is perceived and experienced, using visualization and reframe to create new realities in which the difficulty becomes devoid of its former influence.

As a spiritual seeker herself, Linda has found that the highest resource and healing states come from connection to the Divine. She utilizes a wealth of visualization tools to enable her clients to experience for themselves the healing power that is readily available to each one of us. Often the focus of therapy becomes learning to access and trust one’s personal connection to his/her Higher Self and to the Source of all that is. RESPECT of her clients’ spiritual beliefs and process is vital to Linda’s approach. The language and images she uses when operating in this realm always come from within her client’s frame of reference.

It's All in the Map

In Linda’s journey to integrate and utilize a variety of techniques and formats, she discovered something simple yet profound: It’s all in the Map. What is the Map? It is the understanding of the dynamics that underlie the presenting problem. How does it look energetically? In the meridians? In the chakras? In the energy field? Relationally? Over the lifespan? In the context of family history? From the perspective of the soul?

Mapping the issue necessitates the mindset of a detective on the part of both Linda and her client. Almost 100% of the time, they make discoveries that create an enormous “aha”, but which were somewhat or completely out of awareness before the explorative process.

In the framework of research and discovery, Linda became aware that the deeper and more comprehensive the Map of the problem she was able to create with her client, the deeper and more comprehensive the healing and release which followed. In the light of this, she began to structure her sessions to accommodate it:

  • 1. Talk about what the client brings to the session: dreams, body pains and sensations, relational issues, recurring thoughts and feelings. Our unconscious minds and higher selves are thrilled to be invited into the healing work, and are enormously helpful in bringing up what needs to be addressed.
  • 2. Utilize energy techniques to bring down the initial level of distress. Relaxing into the moment creates the atmosphere in which it becomes possible to listen inside and become aware of internal knowledge and insights.
  • 3. Evaluate and shift any energy scrambles or disconnects. For example, if a person is neurologically disorganized (the right side of the brain controlling the right side of the body, and the left side of the brain the left), he or she is unable to problem solve and think clearly. Becoming conscious of what energy scrambles are characteristically present is enormously helpful for the client, who can use the balancing techniques learned in the session to keep her/his mind-body clear and unscrambled in the rest of life.
  • 4. Use muscle testing, a natural form of biofeedback, to identify the priority issue. This process is in itself insightful because the most effective place to begin the healing process is not always logically apparent. However, “all roads lead to Rome,” as the saying goes. What the mind-body-spirit chooses as the place to begin usually proves to be encompassing enough to cover a broad spectrum of possible issues.
  • 5. Make a Map of how that issue is held in the meridians, chakras, energy field, relationships, family history, lifespan and from a soul perspective. This process can be as long or short as the time available. The broader the scope of the Map, the more comprehensive the release and clearing which follows. Conversely, a very effective Map can be constructed in just a few minutes of time.
  • 6. Visualize a ravine. Allow that ravine to fill with all the emotions, thoughts and experiences on the Map. While that is happening, the client utilizes an energy psychology technique to instruct the mind-body-spirit to clear from the totality of his/her experience all facets of the Map, and to “transform them to Light.” The technique helps to unblock and release the stuck energy; the intention for transformation puts the power of the mind and spirit behind that process; the Divine connection to which we are consciously present accomplishes the transformation.
  • 7. While holding one or more chakras or energy centers, engage in a visualization which is specific to the issue being addressed. Facilitate an even more expansive opening to Divine connection and resources, together with an experience of more expansive ways of thinking and being with regard to the issues on the Map.
  • 8. Recheck the work. Using muscle testing, retest all the issues on the map, together with the initial issue chosen as a priority. Look for a strong muscle hold indicating the issue is now balanced and clear. Discuss the client’s feelings about the presenting problem in the aftermath of the healing.
  • 9. Discuss ways of continuing the healing process as the client goes back into every day life: visualizations, meditation, self-care, energy exercises, relational changes.
  • 10. Give thanks. Amazing shifts happen in almost every session. We are in gratitude at being “in the flow” of the healing which is intended to happen.
